1st XV win keeps them favourites for the promotion play off spot
A brace for Dan Adams and a stroke on luck for Box wins it for the islanders!
With 2 of the last 3 encounters between Sheppey and Lordswood abandond before full time, the islanders knew that this could be a potential banana skin in the hunt for promotion.
Lordswood opted to play with the strong wind behind them in the 1st XV half, from the off it was clear that Lordswood weren't there just to fulfill the fixture, with 11 players returning from the week before they took it too the islanders. Sheppey and Lordswood were battling for possesion between the two 10 metre lines the hits were big and the rucking was fierce, Sheppey fianlly broke the deadlock with a penalty from Lewis Frostick after 20 minutes, much to the dissapointment of the lordswood supporters.
Lordswood piled on the pressure and Sheppey found themselves in their 22, the pressure sooned led to the homeside's opening score with a well worked back move, the following conversion successful. Sheppey then piled the pressure and found themselves with an attcking lineout just inside the lordswood 22. A catch and drive saw Sheppey march their way over the try-line. frostick again adding the conversion.
Half time score: 7-10
With Sheppey now playing with the wind behind them looked to kick for territory. After piling on the pressure and making there way into the opposition 22, illdisipline sent sheppey backwards, with the lordswood 10 kicking 30-40 meteres. this happend a few times sheppey piled on the pressure and the lordswood 10 happily sending the islanders back into thier own half.
After illdiscipline from lordswood Bradley Box sent Sheppey into the opposition 22 where the persuing line out and after 3 or 4 phases no.8 Dan Adams crash over for his second.
Sheppey continued to pressure lordswood and after a clearing kick from the lordswood 15, Bradley Box sent the ball skywards, miscommunication from 2 lordswood players saw the ball fumble and Box cleared up to score Sheppeys third.
With 10 minutes left Sheppey were looking for that precious bonus point but once again both sides were battling it out in between the 10 metres and the final whistle went.
A good win for the Islanders against a very physical lordswood side.
